About Me
I earned my degree in Journalism and Media Studies, as well as my minor in Digital Communication Information and Media (DCIM) at Rutger's University. I am very confident in my abilities in supervising, writing news articles, interviewing, editing print, film editing, public speaking, script writing, on camera speaking, and working with various social media platforms. I'm a very hard and diligent worker, and an overall outgoing and friendly person. Currently I am a reporter and Editorial Assistant for The Ocean Star Newspaper where I take on numerous roles such as formatting obits, letters to the editor, and other things of that nature; report weekly for the borough of Mantoloking; and manage our Production Day every week. During my last 2 years in college I balanced three part time jobs as well as being a full time student taking 18 credits a semester, and can guarantee I am impeccable with time management. I worked hard to help start a news program at my high school, that is still up and thriving today. I was a contributor for free for an online student newspaper called Uloop, where I was promoted to the editor for the Rutger's Uloop contributors. I was the host of a Rutger's Television (RU-Tv) news program called "Paint the Town Scarlet" where I was able to put many of my abilities to work. I have a strong passion for writing, reading, music and entertainment and wish to work in a field that allows me to put those passions to work. I have many goals and objectives for my career, and I believe that my bubbly and outgoing personality combined with my hard work ethics would make me the perfect fit for any publishing, news or media corporation that will help me achieve those goals.
Paint the Town Scarlet
Paint the Town Scarlet is a RU-Tv (Rutger's Television Network) News segment where myself, a producer, and camera crew go on seen to school events and interview students, peers, event planners, speakers, celebrities, etc. We then create a fun and informative package that is then included in the "Wake Up Rutgers" morning news program. I will be continually adding videos to the "Paint the Town Scarlet" page of this website as we contiune to produce more segments.
Blue Devil News
During my junior and senior year of high school at Shore Regional, I read the morning and afternoon annoucements to the school with a fellow classmate. In Janurary of my senior year, we worked together with the video news production teacher and created the first ever news program titled Blue Devil News. As the anchors we were in charge of finding news and information, interviewing peers, and writing the scripts. Above you can see a reel of some of my work with Blue Devil News. The program is still running and improving each year.
My First News Package
Before I transfered to Rutgers in 2014, I attened East Carolina Univeristy for 2 years. While there I completed a Digital News Production course where I learned how to record, edit, and set sound bites, footage, and edit it all together to create the news package you see above. I completed all aspects of this news package myself incudling research, recording and interviews.
Anchor Package
The video you see above is a news package for the same Digital News Production course I took, but in this package I am the anchor for a fellow classmates news package.
Uloop News
From September 2014 to September 2015 I had been writing artcilesfor the online news site Uloop. While most articles are written in a more "blog-like" dynamic, I also have the ability to write more professionally for newspapers, whether online or in print. The link above is the link to my Uloop page where you can find the articles I have written for them. As of September 2015, I am now the Editor for the Rutgerts divison of Uloop.
